About this book
Creators: Gaius Valerius Catullus (84? BCE-54 BCE) and Robinson Ellis (1834-1913) "Catulli Carmina" by Gaius Valerius Catullus and Robinson Ellis is a collection of poems written in the first century BC. Catullus, a leader of the "new poets," broke from epic tradition with short, intensely personal verse. His 116 surviving poems span passionate love lyrics addressed to "Lesbia," tender elegies, vivid scenes of Roman life, and fierce invectives against enemies and rivals. Written in varied meters and drawing inspiration from Greek poets like Sappho, these works capture raw human emotion with elegant craft. (This is an automatically generated summary.)
