About this book
Creators: Dante Alighieri (1265-1321) and Eino Leino (1878-1926) [Translator] "Jumalainen näytelmä" by Dante Alighieri is a narrative poem written between 1308 and 1321. The work follows Dante's journey through the three realms of the afterlife—Hell, Purgatory, and Heaven—guided by the poet Virgil and Beatrice. Set during Easter week in 1300, the poem explores divine justice and the soul's path toward God. Each realm reveals appropriate punishments or rewards based on earthly actions, drawing on medieval Catholic theology and philosophy to portray sin, penance, and spiritual ascent.
