About this book
Creators: Charles de Coster (1827-1879), Albert Delstanche (1870-1941) [Illustrator], and Geoffrey Arundel Whitworth (1883-1951) [Translator] "The Legend of the Glorious Adventures of Tyl Ulenspiegel in the land of Flanders and elsewhere" by Charles De Coster is a French-language novel published in 1867. This sweeping tale transforms the medieval German trickster Till Eulenspiegel into a Flemish folk hero fighting Spanish oppression during the Dutch Revolt. After witnessing his father burned at the stake for heresy, the prankster Tyl evolves from idle jokester into a cunning spy and rebel agent, carrying his father's ashes while serving William the Silent's resistance movement.
