Privacy Policy for Folarin Bookstore Digital

This policy explains how the Folarin Bookstore Digital Android application accesses, collects, uses, stores, protects and shares information. It applies only to the mobile app and its connected services.

Effective date and operator

Effective date: 25 August 2026

Folarin Bookstore Digital (also referred to as “Folarin Bookstore”, “we”, “us” or “our”) operates the Folarin Bookstore Digital mobile application. The app is an account-based digital bookstore and reading library.

For privacy questions or requests, email contact@folarinbookstore.com.

Scope

This policy covers information handled through the Folarin Bookstore Digital Android app, its authentication and database services, protected ebook delivery, reading tools and Google Play purchase verification. The separate privacy notice for the public website is available at folarinbookstore.com/privacy.

Information the app accesses or collects

Account and profile information

  • Email address, encrypted authentication credentials and account identifiers.
  • Display name and an optional profile picture when you choose to add one.
  • Email-confirmation, sign-in and account-security information needed to authenticate and protect the account.

Library and reading information

  • Books added to or purchased for your library.
  • Reading position, reading progress, bookmarks, highlights, highlighted text and related reader preferences.
  • Offline-download information and encrypted local files needed to make eligible books available on your device.

Purchase and entitlement information

  • Book and Google Play product identifiers, order or transaction identifiers, purchase tokens, purchase status, price display, purchase time and the platform used.
  • Server-side verification results and entitlement records used to confirm that an account may access a premium book and to prevent duplicate or fraudulent access.
  • Folarin Bookstore does not receive or store your full payment-card or bank-account details. Google Play processes Android payments under Google’s own terms and privacy policy.

Copyright-protection and security information

  • Book identifiers, pseudonymous watermark codes, protected-book access timestamps and limited records needed to investigate piracy, fraud, account compromise or misuse.
  • Technical and security records that our infrastructure providers may process to deliver requests, maintain sessions, prevent abuse and diagnose service failures, such as IP address, device or browser characteristics, request timestamps and error information.

Information we do not intentionally collect

The current Android app does not request precise or approximate location, contacts, SMS, call logs or advertising identifiers. We do not use third-party behavioural advertising or sell personal information.

How we use information

  • Create, authenticate, secure and administer your account.
  • Confirm email ownership, support sign-in and respond to account or support requests.
  • Display the catalogue, maintain your library and deliver protected ebook files.
  • Synchronise reading progress, bookmarks and highlights across supported sessions or devices.
  • Start and verify Google Play purchases, create entitlements, restore eligible purchases and provide transaction history.
  • Protect authors, publishers, readers and the service by detecting duplicate transactions, fraud, piracy, account sharing, security incidents and other misuse.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot and improve the reliability, accessibility and security of the app.
  • Comply with applicable law, enforce our terms and establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

Service providers and sharing

We disclose information only as needed to operate and protect the app, complete a user-requested transaction, comply with law or protect legal rights. The main categories of recipients are:

  • Supabase: authentication, database, server functions and protected book-file storage. Supabase processes account, library, reading, entitlement and technical information on our behalf.
  • Google Play and Google: Android app distribution, payment processing, purchase status and transaction verification. Google provides confirmation data to the app and our verification service.
  • Professional advisers, authorities or rights holders: only where reasonably necessary to comply with a valid legal obligation, investigate fraud or piracy, protect safety or rights, or resolve a dispute.
  • A successor operator: if the service or relevant assets are reorganised, transferred or acquired, subject to appropriate confidentiality and data-protection safeguards.

We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for cross-app behavioural advertising.

On-device storage and internet transmission

Some information is stored locally on your device so the app can remember your signed-in session, library state, preferences, reading progress and eligible offline books. Protected offline book files are stored using app-controlled safeguards. Removing a download removes that local book file; uninstalling the app may remove app-local information but does not by itself delete your online account.

The app uses internet connections to communicate with Supabase and Google Play. Information may be processed in countries other than the country where you live, subject to the safeguards used by us and our providers and applicable law.

Security

We use encrypted network connections, authenticated access, database access controls, server-side purchase verification, protected storage and account-scoped records. Access is limited according to operational need. No service can guarantee absolute security, so you should use a strong, unique password, protect your device and notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access.

Retention

Account, profile, library and reading information is generally retained while your account remains active. Purchase and entitlement records are retained while needed to provide and restore access, address refunds or disputes, prevent duplicate or fraudulent claims and meet accounting or legal obligations.

After account deletion, we delete or anonymise associated personal information unless limited information must be retained for a legitimate and lawful reason, such as fraud prevention, security, accounting, tax, legal claims, dispute resolution or compliance with a binding legal obligation. Any retained information is limited to the purpose requiring retention and is not used to continue providing an active account.

Delete your account and associated data

In the app: sign in, open Profile, select Delete my account, confirm your password and follow the confirmation steps. This initiates permanent deletion rather than temporary deactivation.

Outside the app: email contact@folarinbookstore.com from the email address registered to the account with the subject “Folarin Bookstore Digital account deletion request”. We may take proportionate steps to verify that the request comes from the account owner, but you should never send us your password or full payment credentials.

Deletion removes the account and associated profile, library, reading progress, bookmarks and highlights, subject to the limited lawful retention described above. Local downloads and app data can also be removed by clearing the app’s storage or uninstalling it. Deleting the Folarin account does not itself delete your Google account or Google Play transaction records controlled by Google.

Your choices and rights

Depending on applicable law, you may ask to access, correct or delete personal information, object to or restrict certain processing, or raise a privacy complaint. Contact us using the address below. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request and may decline or limit a request where permitted or required by law.

You can change reader preferences in the app, remove individual offline downloads, sign out, or stop using the service. Permissions can be reviewed through Android system settings.

Children

The app is not directed to children under 13 and is not designed as a children’s service. A person must be legally able to accept the app terms or have permission from a parent or guardian. If you believe a child provided personal information without appropriate permission, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app, providers, legal requirements or data practices change. We will publish the revised policy at this same URL and update the effective date. Where required, we will provide additional notice in the app or request consent.
